Automotive Systems Program

  • Earn an Associate's Degree of Applied Science in Automotive Technology.
  • Attend school at either Shelton State Community College or at the University of West Alabama (2 years).
  • Class days are: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Work days are: Thursday, Friday, and *Saturday (only when production is scheduled).
  • Opportunity for full-time employment with MBUSI for those who are successful in the program.

Industrial Mechatronics Program

  • Earn an Associate's Degree of Applied Science in Industrial Electronics and a Short Certificate in Industrial Maintenance.
  • Attend school at Shelton State Community College (2 years and 1 semester).
  • Class days are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Work days are: Friday and possibly Saturday.
  • Opportunity for full-time employment with MBUSI for those who are successful in the program.

Key Points about the Application Process

  • You must apply to the specific school first before completing an application for the programs. Your student ID is required on the application. All applicants must continue to complete their enrollment process with the school. Receiving your student ID is just the first step.
  • Make sure that all of your contact information is correct and up to date. Throughout the selection process, the primary source for communicating with potential candidates is through email.
  • For those who meet the qualifications to participate in the selection process, more information will be available prior to the first assessment.


Additional Program Details

  • As a student in either of the technical programs, you are an employee of North American On-Site, a staffing agency utilized by Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc. (MBUSI). The program is administered by Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc.
  • Both programs are full-time student programs. Students are required to work every week; however, the amount of working hours are limited. (Outside of the standard requirement to work every week, additional work is possible depending on a student's overall GPA.) Overtime work is not allowed in the programs.
  • Both programs require shift work. Please consider this before applying. You will be expected to rotate shifts and work on the production line.
  • Students will be paid for all hours worked at the plant at a rate of $14.50 per hour. Compensation increase at 3rd and 6th terms.
